Referability is a combination of clarity and confidence.

Someone has to understand what you do well enough to recognize an opportunity, then trust you enough to act on it.

Miss either piece and the referral usually dies.

You can be incredibly competent, but if I cannot explain whom you help, I will not know when to think of you.

Or, I can understand your specialty perfectly but not know you well enough to risk my relationship with a client.

Being referable means making both decisions easier.

'This is exactly the person for this situation, and I feel good putting the two of them together.’
