Why do most professionals hate networking?

Because much of what we call networking is badly designed.

You walk into a room, introduce yourself to strangers, deliver a polished little pitch, and
somehow turn that into business.

For many professionals, that feels unnatural, because it is.

Most of us are far more comfortable having a meaningful conversation than performing for a
room.

Networking gets better when we stop treating it as prospecting and start treating it as
discovery. Who is this person? What do they know? Who do they serve? Could we ever be useful
to one another? Curiosity is much easier to sustain than self-promotion.
