They are worth knowing when there is something meaningful to learn, share or potentially build together.

That does not mean they need to be wealthy, influential or capable of sending you business.

Sometimes the most valuable person is deeply knowledgeable in an area you are not.
Sometimes they serve a population your clients intersect with.
Sometimes they simply have exceptional judgment.

I think we undervalue people when we measure them only by immediate commercial potential.

A strong professional network is an ecosystem.

Different people contribute different things, and often the value of a relationship becomes apparent long after the first conversation.
